Water No 79 Water No 79

From the Water II collection

(Intro from Water I )

When I started putting these collections together for the website, I learned a lot of things–one was that you can never find the specific picture you're looking for until you stop looking for it, and two, I had shot a hell of a lot of pictures of water in one form or another, and that was new to me.

Water appears to us in obvious and subtle ways: oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds, pools, etc, but also as fog, snow, ice, dew, mist, steam, condensate, and color.

The range of colors goes from blinding white highlights to inky blacks with an astonishing infinite number of greens, browns, blues, and actually some unnameable hues.

Water can be tranquil, turbulent, transparent, and combinations of the three, yielding perfect reflections and bizarre complex images. I’m starting to ramble, so I’ll stop.
