Conference No. 1 at Luton Hoo, England
From the Near London collection
As you well know by now, if you have been reading these collection intros, I rarely, if ever, take notes of any kind when I shoot. Therefore I have a limited idea of what town I’m in when I’m shooting. So I’ll just say I’ve tried to identify where I was, but often I’m not sure of it so I leave some untitled rather than give false information. Basically it’s all near London, nearby or a few hours away.
There is one place I did a lot of shooting that was at Cowes, where they have an annual yacht race that I covered.
I know nothing about sailing and someone asked wouldn’t it be better if I did?
I told him about my hero, Ernst Haas, who was asked how he could shoot football without knowing anything about the game, and he replied, “They wear different color uniforms, and that’s what interests me.”
